When Vincent van Gogh died in 1890, most of his work passed to his brother Theo and, after Theo's death a few months later, to Theo's widow Jo van Gogh-Bonger, who did more than anyone to make him known. Their son Vincent Willem gave the collection a permanent home: the Van Gogh Museum on the Museumplein in Amsterdam, designed by Gerrit Rietveld, opened in 1973, and a wing by Kisho Kurokawa followed in 1999. It holds the largest Van Gogh collection in the world, some 200 paintings, 500 drawings and more than 700 letters, including Sunflowers and The Potato Eaters. Our prints from it are The Harvest and The Bedroom, both from Arles in 1888.
